Facebook Messenger Export Privacy Policy

Single Purpose

Facebook Messenger Export has a single purpose: to let users select, format, preview, export, and print specific Facebook Messenger conversations from Facebook.com and Messenger.com. Export options include a customizable PDF/print view, image ZIP exports, and paid CSV and TXT export options.

Information the Extension Handles

Facebook Messenger Export handles conversation content only as needed to provide the export features you choose to use. Depending on the selected messages and export type, this may include message text, participant names, profile images or avatars, timestamps, dates, reactions, reply context, links, image attachments, video thumbnail information, media URLs, sender direction, and other visible Messenger page content needed to reproduce the selected conversation in an export.

The extension also stores extension settings and temporary editing state, such as formatting choices, visibility settings, participant display settings, search and filter settings, redactions or highlights applied to the export copy, Premium-feature display preferences, and export-session state.

Messenger conversations can contain sensitive information chosen by the people in the conversation. The extension does not separately seek, profile, classify, or infer health information, financial information, location, or other sensitive categories, but content you choose to export may incidentally contain such information.

When Messenger Content Is Accessed

The extension runs on Facebook Messenger conversation pages at Facebook.com/messages and Messenger.com. It reads the currently loaded conversation only to support message selection and export features. If you use automatic date selection, the extension may scroll the conversation to load earlier messages so it can find and select the requested date range.

The extension does not use Messenger content to build advertising profiles, track unrelated browsing activity, determine interests, or provide unrelated services.

Local Storage and Export Sessions

Selected message records are stored locally in Chrome storage so the extension can open and render the export preview. Large exports may be stored locally in multiple chunks. The extension can also locally save the current and immediately previous export session so a user can continue editing or reopen the previous session.

Messenger conversation content used for exports is stored in chrome.storage.local. It is not synced through the extension to the developer and is not uploaded to a developer-owned server.

As newer export sessions replace older ones, the extension removes older locally stored export-session data that it no longer keeps. Uninstalling the extension removes access to its local export-session data from the browser. Files that you have already downloaded are separate files on your device and are under your control.

Images and Other Messenger Media

When an export includes images, the extension may request the selected media directly from Facebook or Messenger media servers, including Facebook CDN domains such as fbcdn.net and fbsbx.com. These requests are made only to retrieve media needed for the export you requested.

Chrome may include your existing Facebook session credentials with an authenticated media request when needed to retrieve content that is available to your signed-in Facebook session. The extension does not read, inspect, store, or transmit your Facebook password, cookies, or authentication tokens.

How Information Is Used

Selected Messenger content is used only to provide the extension's export functionality. This includes building the print/PDF preview, applying layout and visibility controls, searching or filtering the selected export, changing participant display settings, removing messages or media from the export copy, applying highlights or redactions, creating image ZIP files, and preparing CSV or TXT files for eligible users.

Edits made in Facebook Messenger Export affect only the export copy. The extension does not edit or delete the original messages in the Messenger conversation.

Downloaded Exports

When you choose to print, save a PDF, download images, or use another available export format, the resulting file may contain the Messenger content you selected. After a file is saved to your device, you control where it is stored, copied, uploaded, printed, or shared. Users should treat exported conversations according to their own privacy, confidentiality, and legal obligations.

Premium Features, Purchases, and Restore Purchase

Facebook Messenger Export uses ExtensionPay to manage Premium access and purchase restoration. ExtensionPay integrates with Stripe for payment processing. Purchase and restore actions open ExtensionPay pages, and payment details are handled by ExtensionPay and Stripe rather than by Facebook Messenger Export.

The extension communicates with ExtensionPay to create an entitlement identifier and check whether Premium access has been purchased. ExtensionPay may return purchase-account information such as paid status and the purchaser email associated with the entitlement. This entitlement information may be stored using Chrome sync storage when available, with local storage used as a fallback, so Premium access can be recognized or restored.

Facebook Messenger Export does not collect or store full credit card numbers, card security codes, bank account details, or other full payment credentials. Messenger conversation content is not sent to ExtensionPay or Stripe as part of payment verification or purchase restoration.

Data Sharing and Third Parties

Facebook Messenger Export does not sell, rent, license, or share selected Messenger conversation content with advertisers, data brokers, analytics providers, or other third parties. The developer does not receive copies of your exported Messenger conversations through the extension.

Third-party network communication is limited to what is needed for the extension's user-facing features: Facebook and Messenger servers provide the conversation and selected media, and ExtensionPay and Stripe handle Premium entitlement and payment processing. Those third-party services process data under their own terms and privacy practices.

Analytics, Advertising, and Tracking

The extension does not include advertising, behavioral analytics, cross-site tracking, or telemetry that sends Messenger content or browsing activity to the developer. It does not use selected conversation content for personalized advertising, retargeting, marketing profiles, or data brokerage.

Permissions and Site Access

The extension requests Chrome's storage permission to keep export data and extension settings locally. It requests unlimitedStorage because large selected conversations and export-session data can exceed Chrome's normal local extension storage quota.

The extension requests host access only for Facebook Messenger pages and Facebook-hosted media needed by the export features: Facebook.com, Messenger.com, fbcdn.net, and fbsbx.com. It does not request access to all websites and does not collect a general history of the websites you visit.

Remote Code and Security

The extension's functional JavaScript is packaged with the extension. It does not download and execute remote code. Network requests used for Facebook media retrieval and ExtensionPay payment-status checks use HTTPS.

No system can guarantee absolute security, but the extension is designed to keep Messenger export content local to the browser except for direct requests to Facebook-hosted resources needed to retrieve selected media. Conversation content is not routed through a developer-owned server.

User Control

You choose which messages are selected for export. Before downloading or printing, you can adjust formatting, remove messages or individual media from the export copy, hide optional content, search or filter the export, or close the export page without creating a file.

You can stop using the extension at any time and remove it from Chrome. Purchase records needed to restore Premium access may remain with ExtensionPay and Stripe according to their own retention practices.

Chrome Web Store User Data Policy and Limited Use

Facebook Messenger Export's use of user data complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. User data is accessed and used only as necessary to provide or improve the extension's disclosed single purpose and related operational functionality.

User data is not used or transferred for personalized advertising, retargeting, unrelated profiling, data brokerage, creditworthiness, or lending purposes. The developer does not permit humans to read Messenger conversation content handled by the extension except where a user explicitly provides specific content for support, where required for security or legal compliance, or where otherwise permitted by the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy.

Changes to This Policy

If Facebook Messenger Export changes how it handles user data, this policy will be updated to reflect those changes. Material changes to data practices will also be disclosed where required before the changed practice is used.
